  10. She used to tuck me in every morning, and kiss me, as she left for work so early. Now, I sleep in the cold.

She never was big on snuggling, but was open to a small amount. Now, anything close causes anger.

She used to smile when I stayed up late, to wake her up early. Now, she just glares at me and acts like I’m irresponsible.

I used sleep as close to the middle of the bed as possible, so I could be near her. Now, I sleep half off the edge, and she talks of buying something bigger for more space.

The years have passed, and we all have changed. Some have grown closer, and other farther apart. I have more scars, and more debt too. But I still hold tightly to my feelings, and yet, I haven’t numbed to the hurt that comes with them.

So, tonight, as I lay in this bed, thinking of a song, aptly called The Bed Song, I put these words down. To remind me. To get them out. To settle my brain.

The days are getting warmer, and my heart grows cold. Good night. I love you. Stay safe and love others.
