“I’ll grow old, Start acting my age…”
-
Apparently I should have gone higher than “more than 25” because this isn’t giving me the best resolution. Also…YOU GUYS READ A LOT OF DAMN BOOKS!
68 books in 2012. Would have been more, but I got burnt out around Halloween and only read 2 more books in the last 2 months.

Jenny Owen Youngs Comes Out As Gay, IS A FUCKING BADASS

Today, Jenny Owen Youngs, whose music I am a big fan of, and is also someone I would consider a friend, penned an essay for Everyone Is Gay announcing that she is gay. Actually, “super gay.”
I hope I am not betraying any of her trust saying this, but a few weeks ago, we talked on the phone for almost an hour about her struggle to come out and whether or not it was something worth doing. I never told her this, but after we hung up, I sat in a chair, and stared out the window for an hour, just thinking. She gave me a shit-ton of stuff to mull over. Stuff that, as a dumb ol’ straight dude, I had never really thought to identify with. This is saying something because I never usually think about anything for more than 5 seconds and usually that thing is “I want nachos.” But I took the things Jenny said about being a gay person with a public profile and internalized them and then digested them in my own way (I blasted Limp Wrist for the rest of the day).
The essay she wrote is very Jenny. It is heartfelt and beautiful but at the same time makes references to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you have had any struggle with your sexual identity (or also enjoy the acting of David Boreanaz), I strongly suggest that you read it (below) and hope that it provides inspiration for you. Jenny’s non-stop DIY ethos has been something I’ve long admired and now this just adds a new level of admiration.
Jenny, if you are reading this, you are a fucking badass and I love you.
xo.

I just caught myself singing Frank Turner’s Substitute.
But, I changed it to “Pizza is my substitute for love…”
Yeah, I’m hungry.

Facebook is the living dead: the most popular, least relevant social network where teenagers and adults alike gather out of fear of missing out on things that don’t even make them happy
–A Pew study says that 94 percent of teens use Facebook, and hate it. (via midwestloveaffair)

If you don’t get this reference, you’re too young for tumblr.
are you fucking kidding me pixar puts out a movie ever year a baby would get this reference
it’s not pixar it’s a reference to that time in 1994 when lamps became sentient humanoids
many were lost that day
It was a grim day for mankind. My parents took refuge in a cave and thus saved us from certain death; we lived close to a lamp factory at the time and the surrounding region was utterly devastated in the conflict.
My brother fought one off using only an egg whisk and a pogo stick.
Only 90s kids remember the Lampocalypse
My father still has the scars from where one stole his kidney
Ironically, it was a dark time.
#i love tumlr so very much.

Been working 13 hours a day, with nearly 2 hours of driving, for the last 3 days. Haven’t seen the Jessie or Satchel for more than 5 minutes since Tuesday. Tonight, I come home to this.
